Best memory of service: About six weeks before the end of my Peace Corps service, 9/11 happened. All the other volunteers in my group were worried about what was going to happen to us. Most of us had made post-service travel plans and were afraid that we were going to be evacuated since we were living in a Muslim country. Fortunately that didn't happen. The only news coverage I received was BBC International on my short wave radio. So I had seen no visual images of the Twin Tower collapse like many did around the world.''''
