Info about the Bring a Buddy Volunteer Campaign

In an effort to encourage community involvement and volunteerism, the National Alliance for Volunteer Action¿s (NAVA), a Plovdiv, Bulgaria-based NGO is seeking to host the Bring a Buddy program. The program will be started as a way to promote volunteerism within the Plovdiv Community. The 6-month program is designed to encourage and support new volunteers as well as increase the retention rate of past volunteers. NAVA will contact local orphanages, schools and other institutions offering social services and a volunteer event will be planned with each of them for one of the 6 months. Past volunteers will be contacted and asked to bring a new volunteer to the first event. These gathers as well as two special opportunities promoting volunteerism will be open to the public. Through engagement of the media, the business sector, the public and NGOs, NAVA hopes to encourage increased levels of community volunteerism, corporate volunteerism and philanthropy. Partnership support is requested to assist in covering the costs of advertising and holding these events.
