Info about the Camp Unity: Promoting Diversity and Tolerance in Ukraine

Camp Unity is a project that seeks to promote ethnic and religious tolerance throughout Ukraine.

Objectives:

Camp participants will understand the attitudes that create xenophobia and intolerance and learn how to promote diversity and acceptance in their own communities.

Participants will interact with Ukrainians and Americans from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds in a comfortable environment to promote their own tolerance and awareness of world cultures.

Participants will implement a ‘diversity awareness’ project in their communities after the camp. They will create a report based on their project and the results will be compiled for future purposes.

A manual based on the curriculum and implementation of the project will be created in English, Ukrainian and Russian for distribution to NGOs throughout Ukraine.

Due to great interest in the project, we are requesting funds to increase the size of Camp Unity. We would like to allow more host country nationals to participate, teachers from their communities to experience and learn, additional Ukrainian counselors, and additional camp supplies and equipment.
