Info about the Crique Sarco Primary School Computer Lab

Crique Sarco is a small rural Mayan community in Belize¿s poorest district. Crique Sarco has a school, primary and secondary serving 72 students. If a student wishes to continue on to High School they must travel five hours, roundtrip, to another community. Improving the educational opportunities for their children has been identified as a critical need by the community. The community is requesting Partnership assistance to realize a software and computer education program in the village school. The goal is to improve the educational opportunities for the students in Crique Sarco. Six desktop computers and a solar electricity array will be purchased and installed in a village building to be used as a computer lab. The software purchased will provide instructional materials, an introduction to computer technology, and individualized instruction not currently available. The community will provide labor, transportation, and teacher training. They are requesting Partnership assistance to purchase the computers, solar panel array, and the computer software.
