The Lelabi Group, an all-women oil processing group made up of twenty-five women, has been in operation for almost one year. The group has been working steadily at becoming a registered cooperative group within the Ghanaian government. All of the women in the group reside in a small farming village of about 1000 residents in the Volta region of Ghana.

The focus areas of the Lelabi Group Work Structure and Business Training Project are to equip members with basic business management skills and provide a structure in which they can continue processing palm oil during the rainy season.

The main objective for these focus areas is to enable women to be more productive by continuing their work on rainy days and provide them with the skills necessary to develop their business.

The women are contributing labor and raw materials to this project, in addition to transportation of sand and gravel, concrete sand and water. They will prepare the land for building and paint the structure once completed. The building plot and venue for the training sessions were donated by a supportive community member.

For the most part, this proposal is requesting money for raw materials and labor which the women do not have the resources or ability to contribute. The majority of the requested funds are for cement and the builder’s and carpenter’s labor.
