Info about the Nuevo Mundo Playground

Nuevo Mundo (New World) contains a school that serves five surrounding communities. Many students commute 3 or more hours by foot and therefore, stay at a boarding house near the school. Presently, children can be seen playing with trash in the street, playing by the river or simply hanging around. During a recent community meeting it was decided that a community play ground would benefit the children and offer them a safe place to play. A playground will also offer the children and the community the opportunity to pass time in a more constructive manner, help develop their physical, social and cognitive skill. The community is requesting Partnership assistance to purchase construction materials, cement, rebar, fencing materials, etc. The community is contributing the land, labor, architectural plans, some materials and transportation.
