Olón is a small coastal village in the Ecuadorian province of Santa Elena. It is home to a large sanctuary (known as "the Big Boat") where a statute of the Virgin Mary cried blood, according to legend. It has the dubious distinction of being just north of the surfer town of Montañita ("For every heaven, there's a hell" as a Missionary from Olón once said).
