The wedding service was a civil ceramoy attended by members of both their families, many Peace Corps volunteers from around Guatmala, and many residents of Comalapa. Both Peter and Estela moved to East Lansing, Michigan where he began graduate studies in the interdisciplinary area of Plant Breeding and Genetics from which he received his masters degree (finally) in May 1998. To them were born Oseas Benjamin Hudy-Velasco (1995). Isai Jonatan Hudy-Velasco (1998) and Macabeo Timoteo Hudy-Velasco (2004). In 2000, the Hudy family accepted a position with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church to work as missionaries at the Rio Colorado Agricultural School, located outside of Yucumo (San Borja), Department of Beni, Bolivia.
