Riobamba is the capital city of the sierran province of Chimborazo in Ecuador. Volunteers affectionately refer to it as "Friobamba" owing to its cold climate.

There is a terminal terrestre (bus terminal) in Riobamba. In addition, the train to Nariz del Diablo (the Devil's Nose) leaves from Riobamba and is a popular tourist destination.
