Rod has worked in international and community development, stabilization and risk reduction for US government agencies and research institutions in Africa and Afghanistan for over 15 years. He has a Masters and Doctorate in Anthropology, and specializations and minors in Tropical Forestry, African Studies, NRM, Disaster Relief, and Farming Systems Management from the University of Florida. He is an avid photographer and loves motorcycles. Rod served as an Environment and Forestry volunteer for Peace Corps Niger between 1990 and 1993 (Ayorou, Tioudawa and Dosso). After 6 years in the Gambia he fled to Afghanistan to work with USAID and the Office of Transition Initiatives.
