Served with the St. Lucian Agricultural and Industrial Bank, Ministry of Agriculture, Industry and Tourism from 1974 through 1976. In this capacity I conducted feasibility assessments on loan applicants. If the feasibility assessments included a recommendation for loan approval, I would then assist the applicant with the loan request and monitor the Bank's investment.
I also served as the business manager for an ILO-sponsored activity - Design St. Lucia - which trained and employed youth to produce textile handicrafts aimed at the tourist market.
In addition, for one semester, I was given permission to teach introductory accounting and economics to adults at night at a local high school.
Immediately after my Peace Corps experience, I assisted as a resource person during a staging exercise for volunteers heading to the Eastern Caribbean region.
I joined the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) shortly after leaving the Peace Corps. Since 1976, I served in Egypt (1977-1983); Burma (1985-1987); the Philippines (1987-1993) and Haiti (1993-1997) and Washington (1976-1977, 1983-1985, 1997-2002). In 2002 I retired from USAID as a foreign service officer and became a contractor.
