Peace Corps periodically suspends volunteer service at a host country. All volunteers are ordered to depart the host country. This may be due to political, health, or safety reasons.

Hostilities in the Georgiathere was an escalation in violence in the Georgian separatist region of South Ossetia and along the Georgian/South Ossetian border on August 8th, 2008. All current Peace Corps volunteers are safe and accounted for.
