Info about the Lviv Youth Leadership Program
The Lviv Region Youth Employment Center (LYEC) proposed Youth Leadership Program attempts to address the issue of youth employment in Lviv with a two tier approach: a training program for future educators and childcare workers and a club and camp program for local youth (ages 12-16). The primary focus of the program would be leadership and English language along with supporting themes (academic achievement, professional and entrepreneurial attitudes, English language, environmental conservation, positive health practices and gender equality). Volunteers would be university or institute students working for the center as part of a practicum toward their specialty. The initial project phase would be one year with four major steps: 1.) Spring: volunteers are trained by professional trainers and qualified members of the LYEC staff, 2.) Summer: volunteers run the Youth Leadership Camp, 3.) Fall/Winter: volunteers run the Youth Leadership Club. At the end of the first year, volunteers will pass on their experience and knowledge to a new group of Volunteers who will then continue the camp/club cycle. Partnership funds are needed to pay for transportation as well as food and lodging for Volunteers and children who cannot afford to pay the camp fees.
