 Description of Service
Part of Fiji 35.
I was sent to Ratu Navula a Fijian secondary school in Nadi at the beginning of the 1976 school year.
I taught English Literature, mathematics and history for two years in Nadi. After two years in Nadi I extended my stay and transfered to Sigatoka and Nadroga Navosa Secondary School. I taught math to eleventh, tenth and ninth graders for one year. I spent an additional year at Niusawa Methodist as a contract teacher for the church. Finally returning to Hawaii in 1979.
I was and am a dedicated surfer. When I showed up for orientation with my surfboard I was questioned about my committment to the Peace Corps. I was able to enjoy many of Fiji's surfing beaches before they became famous.
