[edit] Description of Service

My then wife, Cheryl Armstrong, and I replaced Michael Brady in Mettu, Illubabor province, Ethiopia, from 1972-73. When Cheryl got pregnant, Peace Corps reassigned us to Asmara, Eritrea, where we taught for the next year. Our son, John, was born in Asmara in August 1973. The military coup began in February 1974, and when things got hairy in Eritrea by May, we were told to leave the country.
