Info about the Polytank for a High School
Students at a High School in Ghana walk about 800 meters to fetch water from the only water source (a borehole) near the school to use for bathing and other chores. They usually wait in long lines for their turn to fetch the water. Therefore, they often report late to class and have fewer hours in the classroom for learning, resulting in poor academic performance.
This project seeks to provide a water tank with water-pipe networks and an electric ground-water pump to the school community to ease the stress that students, as well as the teaching and non-teaching staff, encounter before reporting for duty each day.
The community is contributing a 5,000-liter polytank, labor and transportation to convey the materials purchased.
In order to secure the total coast of this project, we are requesting Partnership support to purchase PVC pipes, drop and safety cables, reducers, termination kits and a submersible pump so as to ensure the easy flow of water from the polytank to the essential buildings and blocks of the school.
Note: This summary was provided by a Peace Corps Volunteer and the community administering this project.
