The Kavola village clinic is responsible for providing community members with primary out patient care. The clinic treats minor illnesses, provides physical exams, first aid, and distributes contraceptives. Some of the most prevelant problems the community faces are endemic anemia, hepatitis A, and goiter. Presently the clinic has no running water, unreliable electricity, and insufficient heating. In order to improve the level of health care provided to the community the Kavola clinic must have regular access to these amenities. Following the clinic guidelines from the World Bank this project aims to remodel 18 rooms; adding grounded electrical lines, installing hot and cold running water, heating units, and proper medical sanitary building materials for floors and walls. With electricity, clean running water and heat the clinic will receive World Bank aid to introduce medical technology into the facility to increase sanitation as well as diagnostic capabilities. This project will not only make the health care in Kavola safer for both its community and medical staff but will also increase the level of basic family health. The community has donated the land for the clinic. Partnership funds are needed to pay for remodeling costs.
