Hi, most people know me as Chris Collman, but I have an official name and some nicknames. I was a volunteer from 1965 - 1968 . I was part of Nigeria XVI, an Ag -Rural Development group and tried to extend my tour for another year. When the Biafrian government "could no long guarantee our safety," I left Ikot Ekpene in what is now the Akwa Ibom State. I took an assignment in Somalia. I was there for more than a year. My claim to fame is being one of the elite few PCVs who was a roadie for a Peace Corp Rock & Roll Band.

In case you think I am just an old California Hippie, I also served in the Army at Ft. Ord. It was tough commuting between the base and my sister's house in Santa Cruz on the weekends. Used my GI bill to attend to Franconia College, spent year of my upper division living around the Navajo. Then I settled down and basically have never left Franconia.

I am still interested and work in cross cultural environments via the internet. I am assisting my friends and colleagues at "Friends of Nigeria" with their WikiFON.org . If I can be of help, just ask.--Rcollman 15:25, 24 February 2008 (PST)

Thanks for the comments. I checked out wikifon.org; great website! Lots of information and history of the volunteers. I'm glad FON is keeping the history of PC/Nigeria alive! -Mike 19:43, 8 February 2008 (PST)
