Info about the Water tower
A large village in Niger (home to 4,000 people) lacks abundant resources. Due to their lack of resources like basic water and sanitation, they face many infectious diseases. The poor quality of the water is causing severe diarrhea and malnutrition, particularly in children, where their immune systems are not strong enough to fight.
This project aims to construct a water tower and four separate water pumps. The Programme d’Hydraulique Villageoise et Pastorale Belge (Hydralique Program Village and Pastoral of Belgium) will pay for the construction of the water tower and pipes. They have sent requests to many villages around the region asking for 250,000 CFA per water pump to be placed into a village bank account for document purposes. Their request to our village calls for the construction of four water pumps.
The people of the village are requesting financial assistance to fund three water pumps, and will provide the 250,000 CFA needed for one water pump. Upon construction of the water tower, water pumps, and pipes to track to the four water pumps, the five members of the water tower committee and the four water pump sellers will be trained in water tower maintenance and repair by a representative of Hydraulic. Several months later, a representative of Hydraulic will conduct a site visit to the village to assess and update the situation.
