The Government Bilingual High School (GBHS) in Wum was introduced to the community for the 2003-2004 school year and began immediatly with both arts and sciences sections. Students who attended the high school from the secondary schools had access to mediocre science labs and those who attend GHBS have none at all. To increase effectiveness and productivity, the staff and PTA of GBHS Wum have proposed to construct a new building intended as a science laboratory. The staff of GBHS, the PTA, and community leaders recognize the importance of such a lab and will be contributing 4,000,000 fCFA towards the project in order to erect the building and adequately equip the lab. The community is reaching out to Partnership to assist with the rest of the project. Partnership funds will be used to buy general lab equipment (beakers, funnels, test tubes...) and chemistry reagents so that the students can truly have a hands-on education.
